The worst thing you can do is lie to yourself. Our imagination is so powerful and God created it that way. He created our mouths to speak life, our ears to receive instruction and our mind to comprehend ourselves in relation to our creator. We are truly fearfully and wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:14) As 2012 is coming in; I am thinking about things that I want to improve and maybe do differently. My prayer for myself as I go into the New Year is honesty. No affirmations or resolutions just the promise to myself that I will be honest with myself first and deal with all men in honesty. The devil is called the father of lies as John 8:44 states … He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
The enemy speaks! The only power that the he has or will ever have over the people of God is to influence our minds to believe a lie; that’s his main objective. The influence is always geared towards us to believe a lie; either about ourselves, about our God, about our salvation or our redemption. He uses this tactic because he knows that once faith is released over our thoughts and mixed with the power of confessions; we are far greater than him in the earth. His plans are to present us with a constant stream of lies in hopes that we will lose the knowledge of who we are and who God created us to be. One prevalent device of the enemy is to plant lies and deceit in our minds at an early stage. He targets our early childhood, the beginning of new relationships or the primary stages of birthing our business or dreams; all to distort our vision and to compel our mouths to speak death. Numbers 13:32-33 (KJV) And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
We hear this scripture preached a lot in the content of speaking death over our promises. However, I want to focus on the fact that Number 13:32 starts with “they brought up an evil report”. James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. There is no darkness in God, He doesn't deceive, He doesn’t discourage and He doesn't tempt us with evil because He has none to give. So, if there is an evil report to be brought up it came from the influence of the devil. The devil is always going to tempt you with an evil report that is connected to the perception of yourself, your circumstances, your ability and your Lord. Numbers 13:33 says …and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. How did they know how the sons of Anak perceived them? How do you know how your manager, your professor or distant father perceives you? How can a lender of many nations see himself as a borrower?
We have to constantly be in a position to seek the Lord while He may be found; so that within seeking we can find ourselves. We should always be in a position to live a lifestyle that promotes honesty and faithfulness. We put our own selves in a disadvantage against the wiles of the enemy when we help the devil project lies into our minds. Quite frankly, we make his job extremely easy when we live a life without truth and integrity. If you think about any insecurity, any lack, any dreams not fulfilled or any love lost in your life there is always a lie that we accepted at the root of it. Wisdom is released in Proverbs 23:6-8 (KJV) Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words. The devil has evil in his heart towards man and he speaks to us daily; to sin, to commit adultery, to fornicate, steal to commit homosexual acts all in the attempts for us to lose the inheritance that he lost out of his disobedience.
Don’t give place to the devil! Eph. 4:27-29 (KJV) Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Let’s take back our integrity people of God! Let’s take back the authority of the power of our mouths; when we speak in truth and honesty with ourselves first and then with all men. Let’s make him labor for the salvation of our spouses, for our health, for our wealth! Every lie that the enemy tells you about; your body, your singleness, your business, your health you can destroy with the TRUTH of the word of God! Make this declaration with me; “I will begin this year in Victory! I will proclaim the promises of God over my life and speak death to every lie the enemy has every told me. I uproot every lie he has spoken to me through the womb, in my adolescences and within my perception of myself. I will no longer speak lies for I will deal with all men in honestly and integrity in Jesus name! I love you people of God and that the truth!
Psalm 25:20-22 (GW) Protect my life, and rescue me! Do not let me be put to shame. I have taken refuge in you. Integrity and honesty will protect me because I wait for you. Rescue Israel, O God, from all its troubles!
Proverbs 12:21-22 (GW) No lasting harm comes to a righteous person, but wicked people have lots of trouble. Lips that lie are disgusting to the LORD but honest people are his delight.
